Join our study to explore how retail pharmacies can play a very important role in vaccine clinical research during public health emergencies like COVID-19. If you or your child have recently (in the last 3 days) received or plan to receive a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, your participation could help shape the future of clinical research.
“Overweight” and “obesity” are complex, chronic health conditions that can be caused by several factors, such as genetics (passed on from one generation to the next), environment, hormones, or other medical conditions. While nutrition and physical activity has been proven to help many in managing their weight, for some, more help may be needed. The SYNCHRONIZE studies will help doctors understand if a new treatment to help with weight loss is safe and effective among different groups of people.
Walgreens and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) are studying the feasibility of using retail pharmacies as clinical research sites during public health emergencies. This study focuses on individuals aged 3 and older who have recently received an FDA-approved Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.
You or your child may qualify for this study if:
You or your child (ages 3 and older) have received or plan to receive an FDA-approved Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine in the 3 days prior to study enrollment.
You or your child can attend all five study visits at a local participating retail pharmacy and complete weekly questionnaires.
The blood samples collected in this study will help scientists understand how well the current COVID-19 vaccines are protecting people. By studying these samples and COVID-19 test results, researchers (people who study how medicines can find clues about how the body fights off the virus. These clues, called "correlates of protection," show which parts of the disease–fighting (immune) system are doing their job. This information is very important for helping doctors and scientists improve disease preventing treatments (vaccines) and keep people safe.
Your participation, or that of your child, is crucial to this research. As a thank you, participants will receive:
